"Rather intriguing aroma. Punchy, tense fruit with a hint of elderflower. I was expecting it to be a bit old, but not a bit of it! Slightly spritzy? It works! Though its strong card is a refreshment."

Jancis Robinson MW

This wine opens with a slight flinty reduction which supports a highly aromatic nose. Notes of apple blossom, elderflower and ripe pear. Palate showing great weight with a mango-led tropical profile — a nice juxtaposition to the fresh cut grass that runs through the wine. The acidity is well integrated and carries it nicely to a long finish.

There was no filtration of this wine, so it may throw a small deposit — which just adds to it.

Tasting notes

What's in the glass

On the nose

Immediately inviting — apple blossom, elderflower and ripe pear with a fresh grassy edge that's unmistakably English. A slight flinty reduction lifts the aromatics and adds intrigue.

On the palate

Vibrant and energetic with real complexity. Kiwi and echinacea tea on the attack, moving into intense pineapple and ripe grapefruit, before a beautifully balanced, saline finish that lingers. This is a wine that showcases the brilliant 2022 Oxfordshire vintage at its very best.

How it's made

Fermented in a mix of French oak and stainless steel with indigenous yeasts, no filtration and no fining agents — exactly as nature intended. Bacchus brings the aromatic lift and fruit intensity. Seyval Blanc adds structure, freshness and length.

The first fermentations of this wine were all spontaneous and without any fining agents or filtration. The second fermentation is currently taking place in each individual bottle, which is the traditional method. It now needs to sit in the cellar for some time to do its magic and was released on 7th June 2025
